Resumen

El presente documento es una revisión actualizada sobre la importancia, manejo y aprovechamiento del alimento natural en acuacultura, en donde se incluyen tanto experiencias propias de los autores, como trabajos de otros investigadores a nivel mundial en los diferentes ámbitos de la acuacultura. La revisión incluye un panorama general sobre el alimento natural y su importancia para diferentes especies acuícolas y luego profundiza sobre los grupos mayormente utilizados en este contexto, incluyendo organismos del zooplancton, microorganismos autótrofos y heterótrofos, macroalgas y organismos bentónicos. En algunos casos se presentan datos específicos en forma de tablas y gráficas, resultantes de las experiencias propias y ajenas; en otros casos la información es un poco más general para no hacer el documento demasiado extenso.
