Abstract

El presente documento es el producto de una exhaustiva revisión bibliográfica, enriquecido con experiencias de los autores e instituciones participantes, sobre los alimentos y estrategias de alimentación que mejores resultados han dado para el cultivo del camarón bajo diferentes condiciones. El documento se divide en dos secciones, una relativa a los alimentos en sí, en donde se contemplan aspectos de composición químico proximal y características físicas, especialmente hidroestabilidad; la otra sección se refiere a las estrategias de alimentación abarcando cuestiones de ajuste de la ración, formas de distribución y frecuencias de alimentación. En cada uno de los casos se dan referencias sobre el desempeño, ya sea de los alimentos o de las estrategias de alimentación, bajo diferentes condiciones, principalmente formas y sistemas de cultivo, talla o edad de los organismos, variables ambientales, participación de la productividad natural, entre otros. Como conclusión de la revisión se elaboró una tabla que se sugiere como una guía básica para la selección de los alimentos y las estrategias de alimentación más adecuados para diferentes niveles de intensificación, talla de los organismos y participación de la productividad natural.
