Abstract

Las técnicas involucradas en la producción acuícola de camarón han evolucionado de los sistemas extensivos a los intensivos, e incluso ultra intensivos en estanques y raceways debido a la presión económica y protección ambiental. La continua intensificación de la acuacultura de camarón requiere un mayor avance en cuanto a información nutricional y tecnología de alimentos. El alimento es normalmente el rubro mas costoso en la acuacultura de camarón. A medida que la producción de camarón se intensifica, el camarón se vuelve más dependiente del alimento artificial para cubrir sus necesidades nutricionales. Esta intensificación requiere, por lo tanto, de dietas económicas y más completas nutricionalmente para el éxito comercial del cultivo de camarón. Sin embargo, la formulación de dietas eficientes requiere de información nutricional precisa de la especie cultivada.
