Abstract

El crecimiento requiere de la formación de membranas lipídicas polares. La proporción de
cada una de las clases de fosfolípidos (PL), como porcentaje del total de lípidos polares en el
cuerpo de peces de una talla dada se encontró constante e independiente de la presencia o la
composición en fosfolípidos de la dieta (Geurden et al., 1998; Geurden et al., 1999). Esto
sugiere que las larvas de peces, como otros animales vertebrados (Gurr y Harwood, 1991;
Sargent et al., 1993; Tocher, 1995) son capaces de realizar la síntesis de novo de fosfolípidos
y/o de interconvertirlos. Sin embargo, la necesidad de incluir fosfolípidos en la dieta para
obtener un buen desarrollo de las larvas de peces ha sido documentada en varios estudios
(Kanazawa et al., 1981; Kanazawa et al., 1983a; Kanazawa et al.,1983b; Kanazawa et
al.,1985; Takeuchi et al., 1992; Kanazawa, 1993; Koven et al., 1993; Szlaminska et al., 1993;
Radunz-Neto et al., 1994; Geurden, Radunz-Neto y Bergot, 1995; Cotteau et al., 1997;
Geurden et al., 1997a; Geurden et al., 1997b; Geurden et al., 1997c; Fontagné et al., 1998;
Geurden et al., 1998c; Geurden et al., 1998d).
